Artwork
My work Surfaces relates to light and seeing. The work consists of multiple sheets of paper, which have been processed with a laser cutter. The burning light of the laser creates unique patterns and surfaces as the paper reacts to it. Some of the works include a light source in them revealing and exposing the fragile structure of the paper.
With this work I want to explore the process of making a digital drawing and transferring it to a computer program and then via machines on to paper. Having my art work partly in digital form made me think about how we store and transport our information today.
I am curious of the transformations my drawings go through before appearing on paper. Exporting my file into a different form also changes the consistence my drawings. In the end I wonder if the computer screen holds the artwork as much as the paper does.
