I work with memory, how to trigger memory, my own and yours. I use mainly personal material from my own texts and diaries. I’m interested in the physical results of my actions, of my presens, a registration of my feelings, movements and marks.
Woodcut is a method I use as a visual expression of text. Cutting out the texts in wood gives me the visual expression that I’m looking for. The actual cutting out is like making scars in the wood. To make the motif appear, I have to remove something. The absence becomes the motif, the space becomes the text. Everything’s leaves a mark. How hard I have cut into the wood that day, how deep the traces became, the way I moved my body over the wood plates.
